In the past working as a group meant that all participants would have to meet in a specific location, then with the use of browsers and email, documents or materials would be smailed or emailed to participants and eventually the fragments would be put together. In today’s classroom collaboration workgroups are becoming more readily available with IM, online forums and online collaborative documents and worksheets (Google docs). Now the read/write web offers several collaborative tools and thus the construction of ideas can provide immediate results. It is this creation of knowledge by the group that is the main focus of this group project. Even though certain individuals are responsible for selected learning objects it all constructed together into a single unit in real time.
All class participants are asked to contribute to a group project based on a topic in education. The group project can be on any idea, a QEP project based on a broad area of learning, or subject area, use of competences and may cross over from another topic studied during this course.
Assignment:
Students will work collaboratively to research an educational technology topic. The group will develop a 15-minute web-based presentation and an annotated bibliography. Post completed project in a discussion forum.
Groups will sign up for one of the following Ed Tech topics:
Techniques
Integration
Common Practices
Best Practices
Emerging Practices
Future Trends
The project should include as many Web 2.0 technologies as possible.
